The Act of Killing

The film 'The Act of Killing' follows a group of gangster/military men that carried out a mass extermination of communists in the 1960's, that tell their stories of murder and sadistic experiences through dramatic recreations.

A scene that partiularly stood out to me was the scene where the main gangster Anwar took a part of a communist for one specific scene they shot, and this showed him how cruel and brutal they once were. This experience changed him as a person and made him feel physically sick because of what he had done.

The director did not have any physical presence in the film, although he was addressed by the crew and spoke several times throughout the film.

The two honored producers in the film were Errol Morris and Werner Herzog. Both these producers have made many documentaries such as Mr. Death and Rescue Dawn.

The follow up sequel of the film was 'The Look of Scilence'
